- Get to know Kuelap, one of the most famous historical sites in Peru. This fortified city is located in the northern jungle of Peru, in the department of Amazonas. Kuelap was a city with stone constructions dating back to 500 years BC. Approximately 500 people lived there. - Get to know the sacred city of Kuelap in the mountainous jungle of Peru.
- The tour begins with the pick-up of the visitor from the door of their hotel in the city of Chachapoyas (2,483 meters above sea level). Then, aboard a tourist transport, the tourist will travel from this city to the community of Nuevo Tingo (approximately 1 hour route).
- Nuevo Tingo is a famous town because there are the ticket offices where you can buy cable car tickets to Kuelap. These tickets are already included in the tour.
- In Nuevo Tingo you board a tourist bus included in the cable car ticket to Kuelap. After a 30-minute trip, you arrive at the boarding point for the cable cars. These are completely modern and safe. More than a trip, it is a beautiful experience surrounded by wonderful landscapes.
- After a cable car ride of 20 minutes on average, you arrive at the starting point of the final walk to Kuelap. There, the group will first visit a museum that exhibits objects and panels that explain the historical importance of Kuelap.
- This sacred city was built by the Chachapoyas culture between 500 AD. and 1,570 A.D. It was inhabited by around 500 families. It is believed that it served as a refuge for the population in case of invasions. The nobility lived in the upper part and the common population lived in the lower part.
- After visiting the on-site museum, the uphill walk of approximately 30 minutes begins. This route is not difficult, but if the visitor cannot complete it, they can request to rent a horse on site (not included in the tour).
- After the walk we arrive at the sacred city of Kuelap. Always accompanied by a professional guide, a one-hour visit is made. The circuit includes beautiful landscapes of mountainous jungle, stone constructions, roads that were crossed by the Chachapoyas and more.
- The return trip follows the same route: first on foot from Kuelap. Then, by cable car and bus to the community of Nuevo Tingo.
