The trip to Machu Picchu without a tour

The trip to Machu Picchu can be done in two ways: with a tour or without a tour. If you decide to go with a tour, you must contact a tourism agency in Cusco. If you decide to go on your own, it is necessary to buy tickets to Machupicchu.

Tickets are on sale at authorized agencies in the city of Cusco: a) Street Maruri 340. (from 7 am to 7 pm) and b) Street Garcilaso s/n (from 7 am to 7 pm).

However, the best way to get availability is to buy online through the official website of the Ministry of Culture of Peru (www.machupicchu.gob.pe). It is also possible to get tickets through the websites of authorized tourism agencies.

Once you get the tickets you only have to travel to Machu Picchu on your own. To do this you must follow the following route: Cusco – Ollantaytambo – Aguas Calientes – Machu Picchu. To make this route without problems you must also purchase train tickets (from Ollantaytambo to Aguas Calientes) and bus tickets (from Aguas Calientes to Machu Picchu). It is recommended that you also purchase train tickets online through the two available companies: Peru Rail and Inca Rail.
