Huánuco
The department of Huanuco is located in the central highlands of Peru, approximately 358 kilometers by road from the city of Lima. Its capital is the city of Huanuco, located between the Andean and jungle mountains of eastern Peru. A large part of its territory is crossed by two of the most important rivers of the Andes: the Marañon and Huallaga. It has one of the oldest human remains in Peru and America as the fossil remains in the caves of Lauricocha (10,000 years BC), as well as the archaeological site of Kotosh. It also stands out for its lagoons and mountains on the eastern side of the Huayhuash mountain range. In the jungle you can visit places with great biodiversity such as the Tingo Maria National Park. It is one of the regions of Peru with more local tourism.
