- The tour begins with the pick-up of the visitor from the door of their hotel in the city of Tarapoto. Pick-up is at 3 in the afternoon (it is recommended to be ready 10 minutes before so that pick-up is quick).
- Then we will board a modern tourist transport to travel for 30 minutes (approximately 20 kilometers) from Tarapoto to the city of Lamas.
- The city of Lamas is known as the ‘Folklore Capital of the Peruvian Amazon’. It is famous for being located on a plateau with three natural floors, from 310 to 920 meters high. The lower part of the city is inhabited by residents who are heirs of a tradition such as the Hanan Chancas, the Pocras and the Waykus.
- The first tourist destination that we will visit in the city of Lamas will be its castle. Lamas Castle, although apparently dating from medieval times, was only built in 2005 as the home of Italian businessman Nicola Felice. However, today it is open to tourism due to its splendid style, its interior decoration and its unbeatable views.
- The tour guide will provide details to the visitor about the history behind the construction of Lamas Castle. Optionally (for an extra cost of 9 soles) you can visit the Chanca museum.
- Then we will visit the neighborhood of Waycu Lamas or simply Wayku, a population of Quechua-Amazonian heritage that has maintained its traditions and culture for hundreds of years. There the visitor will discover their artisan products in the main square of the neighborhood. Optionally you can bring souvenirs.
