The Vinicunca – Vinicunca is the name of the famous Mountain of 7 Colors. Its name means ‘neck-shaped black stones’, due to the peculiar shape of the mountain. Its summit is at 5,200 meters above sea level. Its slopes have shades of red, purple, green, yellow and pink.
The Ausangate – The Ausangate is the fifth highest snow-capped peak in Peru and the highest in Cusco. Its summit is at 6,384 meters above sea level. From the route to Vinicunca you can appreciate its snow. For the Incas it was an ‘Apu’ or tutelary god of great importance along with other snow-capped peaks in Cusco such as Salkantay.
Red Valley (optional) – The Red Valley is a set of mountains that have a reddish hue on their soil due to the proliferation of iron oxidation in their slopes. From the top of Vinicunca you can take a path of approximately 30 minutes to the viewpoint of the Red Valley. It is at an altitude of 5,053 meters above sea level.
Andean Mountains – Along the road that leads to Vinicunca you can see immense Andean mountains belonging to the Vilcanota mountain range. From any point you can get incredible landscape photos. The mountains are above 4 thousand meters above sea level.
